Effective Job Search: Find or Be Found

IMPACT Hiring Solutions Logo

Perry Newman, posted an article at the Career Rocketeer Blog  titled "There Are Your Options: 'Find Or Be Found'".

The article describes the need to leverage social media to be found rather than working so hard to find a job.

Eeffective Job search is all about the application of proper leverage in obtaining the results desired in the shortest time period.

Doesn't this apply to just about any success in life? I'm not talking about taking short-cuts or cheating. I'm talking about good ole fashioned fulcrum principles of leverage. Effective use of social media and social networking in your job search speeds the process and uncovers the hidden job market quickly.

There are hundreds of tactics you could apply, including blogging, tweeting, profiles on all the major sites, participating in forums, and so on. The list is almost endless.

One of your greatest points of leverage might be in using LinkedIn more effectively as a social media/social networking site since it is the hands-down winner when it comes to professional personal branding and networking. We wrote a couple of articles on how to Leverage your LinkedIn Profile and How to Assess/Benchmark the Quality of Your LinkedIn Profile.

Brad and I also did a radio broadcast on using LinkedIn for your Job Search in one of our popular Internet Radio Shows. You can download it from our site by clicking here to listen to the FREE Audio Program.

Social Media/Networking is a very valuable tool as part of your toolkit when it comes to conducting an effective job search. Is it a part of your tool kit? Why have you not done more to learn how to leverage your job search through social media/networking as Perry describes his own personal experience in taking a course?
